The Infected

Nickel walked silently through the alleys hearing motorcycles fade in the distance. He saw a dumpster and smiled. His gut was telling him someone must have been hiding there. He slowly crept to it, then kicked it. He smiled wide as he did this.

Zero grit her teeth as someone kicked the dumpster and though she tried not to she let out a little squeak of terror. Her invisibility kicked in instantly and she crawled out of the dumpster silently. She began backing away from the boy who had to be around her age. A captured no doubt. She took one last step back at the end of the ally way and set her foot down right on an old paper bag. The sound seemed to echo down the ally and she quickly unfurled her wings, taking off and landing on the buildings roof that connected to the ally way. She looked down, heart fluttering with panick, her wings could make a lot of noise when she flapped and she prayed that the captured boy thought she was gone, for she was still invisible.

Nickel smiled as he heard the paper bag. This must be invisibility, not very good, he thought as he began to walk toward the sound. He steadily walked toward the paper bag. He picked it up and crumbled it, he sat down and started playing with it, completely not caring about the infected kid anymore.

Zero almost sighed but caught herself just in time. She was glad she didn't have to fight him and turn itto a wolf. She loved being a wolf but sometimes the power could consume her and she had a hard time controling it. She flew up quietly, flying above the ally way to the builing opposite to her. She looked back at the boy and wondered what being a captured was like. Life would be easier and you wouldn't have to be on the run yes, but you would have to do the bidding of the goverment. And that was something she would rather die then do. She looked away from the boy and looked toward the setting sun, letting the warmth soak into her black wings.

Nickel let out a sigh when he stood and stared at the sky for the longest time. He then walked off through the alley ways again. Boring, he thought as he took off his glove and still had the paper bag, he touched it and let it drop onto the ground, breaking in pieces as it had turned to ice. He smiled,"I need something to do, geez, it's so boring." he whispered through gritted teeth while continuing to walk. Pausing he noticed a sound similar to a birds wing swishing through the air. It sounded a bit big but that slipped his mind. Scanning the sky again he squinted, nothing. Again. Nothing. A smirk slapped onto his expression. The boy immediately grabbed something close by, a small rock the size of his palm. Seconds later he threw it in the direction of one of the buildings rooftops. Listening for any new noise. If there wasn't anything he'd try again in a different direction. Even though his aim was a bit sloppy.
