How to Create a Roleplay Guide
1. What Type of Roleplay
First, you will need to decide on what type of roleplay you're going to create. Make sure and check the rules first to roleplaying so that you aren't accidentally disobeying any! THAT would be terrible. :c
There are many types of roleplays! Go look on the forums and you'll see mostly 4 types of roleplays:
Fantasy/Fandom Animal Roleplay - animal roleplays that are based on a book, movie, etc. or fantasy. It could be fantasy animals in the roleplay or a Warrior Cat clan.
Realistic Animal Roleplay - animal roleplays that are based on real life. It means no fandom or fantasy animals. Which also means that there is no special powers and the animals would do what they would
really do. But, you can have your animals talk.
Pure Fantasy Roleplay - this is a type of roleplay that is purely fantasy. It can be werewolves, vampires, etc. In fantasy roleplays, if you play by the rules, you can basically create anything! I think fantasy roleplays are really cool, and they can go far.
Realistic Human Roleplay - these human roleplays have to be realistic. They can be colleges, families, etc. They can't have any fantasy in them, such as special powers or unrealistic creatures.
I suggest you do a roleplay that is different and/or you are interested in. It would be an extra plus if you were good at roleplaying that type as well.
2. The Home Page
The home page is the most attractive feature of your roleplay - make it look pretty! Add dividers and put members, rules, and an introduction in different posts to include organization. You can also add a color scheme. Within every word you write, add slightly different colors. It means, for instance, that the title could be dark blue and the introduction underneath purely blue.
Also, put up huge sizes for titles so that is noticeably a different section. Most people would like a organized, pretty roleplay that would catch somebody's eye.
The home page is hard to make - but don't stress it! The home page should NOT be overdone - that means if you put all your effort into making the home page, it might give off an idea that you are only into designing. Make a good home page, but don't make it "too pretty".
3. Advertising Your Roleplay
The advertising is an easy thing to do, but it can be easily overdone and somebody could get banned. Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT advertise in PMs or posts. Not only is this breaking the rules, but unbearably annoying. Advertise in your signature instead. It is completely okay and in every post, somebody will see it. You are more likely to get roleplayers this way.
4. Things You NEED, and Things You DON'T.
Here is a list of things you NEED to start a roleplay:
- forms. it makes sure that people sign into the roleplay professionally.
- organization. it helps people find things easily.
- proper grammar.
- a good mood.
Here's another list of things you DON'T NEED to start a roleplay:
- codeword in rules. it's too confusing and a mind game.
- a bad mood. it sets people off.
- strict rules about how your roleplayers roleplay.
Hope this helps. c: Hopefully this will be stickied as well.
